We enthusiastically invite all of the youths and young people of our
parish to take part in age specific groups at Most Holy Trinity–St. Mary.
As a parish, we desire to have meaningful youth and young adult outreach, and to
provide for the spiritual nourishment and growth for our young people.
Please join us as we journey together!
THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED FOR OUR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS:
1. The parish “youth group” meets every Sunday immediately
after the 12:30 P.M. Mass (at approximately 1:30 P.M.); the meetings conclude at
3:00 P.M. We invite all youths from middle school age through high school to
participate in this group. Each Sunday we begin our meeting with lunch followed
by faith sharing and fun activities. This group targets young people
between the ages of twelve and nineteen. Please gather at the central doors to
the church immediately after the Mass. Please join us if you are one of the
youths of our parish!
2. The parish “young adult group” meets in the friary (i.e.,
rectory) every Tuesday evening from 7:30 until 9:00 P.M. We invite all young
adults between the ages of eighteen through their twenties (and beyond) to
participate in this group. Our meetings include Scripture reflections, faith
sharing and social activities. Please join us if you are a young adult
member of our parish!
3. Youth Gym Night: The parish gymnasium is open every Friday
evening from 7:00 until 9:30 P.M. for sports and recreational activities. Youths
from middle school through their twenties are invited to come on Friday
evenings.
4. The parish Jornada group meets every First Friday beginning with Mass
in the church at 7:00 P.M. The Jornada meeting takes place immediately after the
Mass; this is a “closed” meeting open only to those who have been inducted into
the Jornada movement. Those who desire to become members of the Jornada must
speak to Fr. Timothy, Spiritual Director of the group.
Here are some useful links for the young people
of our parish:
Our our parish is affiliated with a Latino youth movement
called the “Jornadas de Vida Cristiana” (i.e., the “Journey of the
Christian Life”); the movement itself is closely associated with the “Cursillos
de Cristiandad” (i.e., the “Little Courses of Christianity”), a related movement
serving adult Catholics. Click on the link above to go to the Brooklyn Diocese Jornada web site.
El Padrecito’s Online Church is a safe place of creative expression,
socializing, and advice for teenagers largely from the Latino community in the
United States; the site was started by Friar Masseo Gonzalez, OFM Conv.
